Tidbits About Carly

Carly grew up surrounded by art, with both of her parents working as artists. Creativity has always been part of her identity.

She has worked in education for nineteen years and remains active in the field. She also holds the following teaching certificates: Teacher of TV Production, Teacher of Audio Visual Broadcast Technology, and Teacher of Elementary Education. These credentials enabled her to teach TV Production, Broadcast Journalism, Videography, and Photography to a wide range of students across New Jersey beginning in 2006. In 2017 and 2018, her Videography students earned second place in the New Jersey Young Filmmakers Festival. Teaching provided Carly with opportunities to work with diverse learners in varied circumstances, helping her grow both personally and professionally. The most rewarding part of teaching has always been witnessing her students’ growth.

After twelve years as a high school Audio/Visual teacher, Carly became an adjunct professor in the Communication Department at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey in September 2019. In October 2020, she accepted a full-time position as an Instructional Design Specialist at Ocean County College (OCC) in Toms River, New Jersey. She also serves as an e-Learning adjunct at OCC, teaching Video Location Production and Student Success Seminar. In addition, she is an instructor in the Continuing Education and Workforce Development Department at Bergen Community College (BCC), where she teaches the following courses:

  • ChatGPT for Content Creation

  • Copyright Law for Content Creation

  • Digital Photography for Content Creation

  • Introduction to Wix: Creating a Website

  • Speaking for the Camera

  • Video Editing in Canva

 

Carly’s background in television includes majoring in Television Communications and Broadcast Journalism at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. Prior to graduating, she completed internships at both MTV Networks and FUSE in New York City. After earning her degree, she freelanced at FUSE before beginning her teaching career in 2006, continuing to freelance in the industry alongside her teaching work. She earned her Master of Science in Education Technology at Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2012.

Carly is a member of the New York Chapter of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences and serves as a peer judge for the chapter. She is also a member of the Paley Center for Media and the National Press Photographers Association.

 

In addition, Carly holds a beauty makeup certificate from the Makeup Designory in New York City and works as a freelance makeup artist.

 

During the summer months, she can usually be found at a concert, or spending time with her family at the beach.
